AI startups saw the most investments in Q1

According to the number of conducted investments, the AI startups lead the market with a total of 47 investments in the broader industry. Followed by  Health Care (31) and FinTech startups (26).

The largest funding round of Q1

Berlin-based AMBOSS secured a €240 million Venture Round, the largest funding round in Germany of the quarter.

Most investment rounds were Seed Rounds (47%). Despite that, the largest volume of $395 million was invested in just 10 Series B Rounds.

EIC Accelerator was the most active VC investor in Germany

Regarding the investors behind those funding rounds, the EIC Accelerator emerged as the most active VC investor, completing 10 deals. With this, it leads ahead of Bayern Kapital (5 deals), HTGF, Creandum and HV Capital (4 deals each) among the top 5.

Berlin is Germany’s VC hotspot, while Munich takes the 2nd spot

The most investments in Q1 were conducted in Berlin (60), followed by Munich (20) and Hamburg (13).

When ranking by investment volume instead of the number of conducted investments, Metzingen ($123.5mn) replaces Stuttgart in the Top 5 and takes the 3rd place.
